It all began Sunday morning trying to take the chill off the house with the kerosene heater... well the wick burned up and completely smoked out the entire house. The cobwebs we hadn't noticed hung down the sooty walls of black grime like a horror movie background and the foggy choking haze in the air was so thick even a light close by only appeared a dim orange. To our utter dismay the soot was everywhere and on everything. So much for just painting the ceilings....
Yes, the floors were this bad
(Just imagine how we looked crawling around scrubbing all day)
This grimy layer of soot covered everything...:/ Very depressing
We looked like Jo... only worse. Black sooty mascara and foundation isn't so becoming. By the end of the day we were black head to foot. And when one poor scrubber washed her hair that night, the rinse water was black!
Every room needed scrubbing and it took three wash jobs to get the soot off.

Three days later we're still scrubbing soot from clothes and closets, from under beds and out of cupboards... but the house is also cleaner than it's been in awhile. Why do we wait for diaster to strike before we spring clean?

I guess it's a good thing that you hadn't spring cleaned yet!
