As usual, we've been really busy here! It's amazing how each week fills up with activities, projects and things to do and then flies by. This past week we were able to finally get our applesauce canned. The apples have been waiting on us for a couple weeks so its a huge blessing to have them all in jars and down in the basement on the shelf. Today the Lord gave us a gorgeous fall day for the first day of November. Mom and Dad went and got two loads of cut-offs for firewood to burn this winter, then Dad went back to work and Mom took Joanna to her piano lessons. Meanwhile Micah and Kayla cleaned leaves out of the gutters on the shop. After that we filled an apple bin with wood and decided to get our garlic ready for planting. But first Kayla had to go rescue her calf, Hank, who managed to get his head stuck in the bale feeder. (I don't know how cows do it) It took Micah and her 15-20 minutes to get his poor head unstuck. All the while his concerned mother was bellering her head off. After that we raked leaves(and since we practically live in the forest they are never ending) and picked Mom's corn for cornmeal. Nathan was very happy to whack all the stalks down and then we fed most of them to the cows. So yes, it was a productive day and its a good feeling to have things done before the snow flies. =)
Below are some pictures of last Sunday. A sweet old couple Mom and Dad knew from waaaayyyy back invited us over for a chicken dinner which was really yummy! They have shorthorns so afterwards, we moseyed around the barns looking at all his cows.

farm talk?

Oops, blurry pic.

The heifer all the way on the left is the one that Amy is buying. =) On Friday, Mr. Greene is going to be bringing her and a couple cows Micah bought for breeding and 4-H here so we're looking forward to our new additions.
And that is what's going on here!
